According to the statistics of the World Health Organization (WHO), about 17 million people have a stroke each year.In particular, about 5 million people died and 5 million suffered permanent injury caused by stroke.
In Vietnam, each year our country records 200,000 new stroke and 11,000 deaths from stroke.
Stroke is a serious medical emergency case and may be life -threatening.The stroke occurs when the blood supply for a part of the brain is cut off, usually due to blood clots or blood vessels causing bleeding.
There are many factors known to increase the risk of stroke, such as smoking, high blood pressure, high cholesterol, overweight or obese or less healthy lifestyle.
Anthony Kim's nerve and blood vessels, medical director of the University of California University, San Francisco, USA, said there were 6 habits that were easy to cause stroke that he never did.He also advised people to change these habits soon if they suffer.
6 bad habits increase the risk of stroke
1. Ignore high blood pressure
Dr. Kim said that high blood pressure, if not controlled in time, can affect cardiovascular health, increase the risk of stroke. However, high blood pressure is rarely interested and early screening.
“This is the leading risk factor for stroke. We often call high blood pressure as a silent killer because high blood pressure does not cause clear symptoms, very difficult to identify. This makes many people miss the opportunity to treat high blood and have many serious complications such as stroke, ”Dr. Kim said.

2.
Dr. Arthur Wang, director of the Department of Neurolusive Surgery at the University of Tulane Medical School, USA, said that the sedentary lifestyle could increase the risk of stroke.
Little sedentary means you are spending too much time sitting or lying and never or rarely spending time exercising or moving. This is a popular habit of many people, especially office workers.
The sedentary habit combined with a poor healthy diet can cause overweight and obesity, thereby increasing the risk of blood clot formation and can lead to stroke.
“Research proves that regular exercise can prevent plaque accumulation in arteries, limit blood vessel obstruction and prevent stroke. Therefore, we often advise people to exercise moderately, about 30 minutes/day and episode 5 times/week, ”Dr. Wang said.

3. No periodic health check
According to Dr. Wang, some risk factors for stroke such as blood fat, high blood pressure, hyperglycemia, ... often do not cause any clear symptoms. The above -mentioned conditions are usually only detected when checking periodically.
However, there are still many people who skip regular health checks because they think that they are still healthy, the body has no abnormal symptoms. This can cause people not to detect and control blood fat, blood pressure, ... in time, thereby increasing the risk of stroke.
Dr. Wang said: "I think that periodic health check is a habit needed to prevent stroke."

4. Smoking
Dr. Kim explained: “Smoking is one of the habits that increase the risk of stroke and cardiovascular diseases. The tobacco tobacco can cause blood vessels to narrow and over time, this condition can clog blood flow to the brain, thereby leading to stroke. ”
Both Dr. Kim and Dr. Wang agreed that people need to limit smoking to prevent stroke.
5. Drink too much alcohol
Alcohol abuse is really not good for health.Alcohol not only increases the risk of some types of cancer, liver disease but also can cause stroke.
Dr. Kim said studies have found a link between excessive alcohol use and the risk of heart disease and stroke.Accordingly, alcohol stimulates the central nervous system, leading to a series of reactions such as fast heartbeat, hypertension.
According to research from the European Heart Association, drinking too much alcohol can cause a sudden increase in heart rate.Sudden increased heart rate can cause arrhythmia (irregular heart rate), especially for people with cardiovascular disease.
Factors such as hypertension, arrhythmia may increase the risk of stroke, especially people with background disease.

6. There is an unreasonable diet
Diet also plays an important role in preventing stroke effectively.
Unreasonable diet, such as eating lots of saturated fat, sugar and salt foods can cause hypertension, blood fat, hyperglycemia, etc.Cardiovascular and "guide" for stroke.
Dr. Kim and Dr. Wang recommend that, to prevent stroke, people should limit the less healthy foods mentioned above.Instead, the intake of foods derived from plants, such as vegetables, tubers, fruits, nuts, beans or whole grains.
