The scientist specializes in researching the longevity Dan Buettner has spent his whole life studying those who have lived the longest in the world. This 63 -year -old man devised the term "green area", referring to the global places where residents of residents exceeded the average life expectancy.
His research includes many factors, one of which is a diet. But what does Buettner himself eat after his life to learn about longevity?
"I have spent 20 years studying the longest people living, and I know what they do as a group of population to live for a long time," he told CNBC Make It.These are the decisions on the diet that Buettner made daily to stay healthy when the old man.
1. Eat for a period of 10 to 12 hours
"I know that people who live the longest often eat most of their calories for 10 or 12 hours," Buettner said."So I usually eat only two meals a day."
Buetttimes eat the first meal a day at about 11 am and the second meal is around 7 pm.
2. Eat beans at breakfast and dinner
Through his research, Buetttner found that those who ate a cup of beans a day tended to live about four years longer than those who did not eat.
"I always take beans and try [including them in] both meals," he said."I started the day with Sardinia's Mortrone, including three beans and about five vegetables."
He also added red chili rich in capsaicin, which can help boost metabolism.Buettner adds a little oregano and rosemary to help reduce inflammation and add antioxidants.
3. Eat outside with plants
Although Buetttner admitted that going out to dinner almost every night was not suitable for the long -standing diet, it was part of his life that he felt that he did not need to change.
"It's hard to eat and drink really healthy when you go out, no matter where you go," he said."I try to eat plants".
When he looked at the restaurant menu, he tended to pay attention to the side dishes. Some of his favorite side dishes include: Cannellini, spinach, grilled potatoes.
He also likes to go to Indian restaurants, where many vegetable -derived dishes can be found such as red or green curry and chicken beans.
Buetttner said: "These dishes bring a sense of satisfaction like eating meat, but does not contain saturated fat."
4. Eat a little meat
"I ate about 98%," he said."And people in the blue area eat some meat."
While Americans eat about 220 pounds of meat each year, the greener residents only eat about 20 pounds of meat per year.Although he himself did not eat meat, Buettner said that eating moderately was okay.
"I think the longevity diet can allow meat to eat about once a week without causing too much harm."
